60 ml 2 oz Vodka
10 ml 0.3 oz Dry Vermouth
1 Lemon zest

1 Prepare

Use the zester to peel a large thin slice of lemon zest

2 Ice

Fill your martini glass and your mixing glass with cubed ice (lots!)

3 Add ingredients

Pour in your Vodka over the ice. Add your vermouth (the less vermouth, the drier the Martini)

4 Shake

Close the shaker and shake hard and fast for 7 seconds

5 Empty glass and strain

Empty the ice in your martini glass back into the ice bucket. Place the julep strainer inside the mixing glass and pour the cocktail smoothly from the mixing glass to your martini glass.

6 Garmisch and serve

Garnish with a large zest of lemon

The Cocktail

Although popular before Bond, Ian Fleming’s hero brought this straight up cocktail into the mainstream awareness lifting it to cult status. Shaking a Martini vs. Stirring will make it slightly colder, slightly more diluted and with an icy cloudiness.


Bartender Tip:

If you use both Vodka & Gin, you are turning the Martini into a Vesper
